24 Hours & 24 Months...

We’ve been extremely busy with the collection cars over the last two years with 100 years of Le Mans, 75 years of Porsche and 40 years of Group C all falling within the last 24 months. We’ve celebrated these significant anniversaries in style attending some of the greatest historic race and concours events that have to paid tribute to these extraordinary racing cars.

2022 was an incredible year for Group C

Our first event of 2022 was the magical Goodwood Members Meeting. To mark the 40th anniversary of the 956 an impressive gathering of 956s and 962s descended on the circuit to form the largest Group C Porsche gathering since their racing days - with 20 of these cars back on the circuit.

The last weekend of April took us  to Donington Park for the Donington Historic Festival. Amongst an incredible line up of historic races across multiple different eras there was a race for original factory Group C cars.

The 10th anniversary of the Spa Classic was certainly a special one. Peter Auto arranged nine fantastic grids of race cars from various eras and championships and we entered the Group C race with our Richard Lloyd Racing 962 in Cabin livery with Henry behind the wheel!

2022 marked the 40th anniversary of Group C and at The Goodwood Festival of Speed  15 Group C cars gathered to run up the hill. We took along  956-114, 962-007 and XJR6-185 to this extraordinary event.

This year also marked the 10th edition of the famous Le Mans Classic - held every two years since since 2002. With six grids of endurance racers that completed between 1923 and 1981, it was an amazing weekend. The support races  included Porsche Classic, Jaguar Classic, Endurance Racing Legends and Group C racing where our 1987 World Championship-winning Jaguar XJR8/9 competed amongst a grid of over 40 Group C cars!

2022 Le Mans Classic

The Silverstone Classic is one of the world’s largest historic motorsport events. The 2022 edition saw 20 different races spanning across 10 decades of motorsport history. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Group C racing there was an impressive demonstration with 20 of the greatest cars from the era and we pretty much emptied our garage to take 12 cars from the collection!

2023 was thrilling too!

On the evening of the 22nd of May we were delighted to be able to support our close friends and neighbours Hertz Team Jota at their launch celebration held at Joe Macari Performance Cars, providing two very significant Group C Porsches for the event.

Early July saw us invited to show Shell Dunlop 962-010 at the prestigious Heveningham Concours as part of their celebration of the Le Mans centenary. This was rapidly followed by the Goodwood Festival of Speed where the combination of the Le Mans centenary and the 75th anniversary of Porsche celebrations attracted one of the largest ever gatherings of Porsche race cars - including 11 Le Mans winners and cars that helped achieve those victories. Group C was represented by two 956s and four 962s, primarily either collection or ex-collection cars.

August saw us invited to the Salon Privé Concours, where we displayed cars with a significant Le Mans history including 962-004 Works and 962-200. We then attended the Hampton Court Concours, where there was a special Le Mans class introduced to honour the year of the Le Mans centenary. We took along our 1988 Le Mans runner up, Shell Dunlop 962-010. This car was built specifically to win the 1988 24 Hours of Le Mans and entered with the period’s ultimate driver line-up of Hans Stuck, Derek Bell and Klaus Ludwig

2023 Concours Events

The year finished in style at  ‘A Porsche Christmas’ with Porsche Club GB at the Warwickshire Events Centre. There was an excellent turn out of Porsche road and race cars  including our Works Rothmans 962, as well as some of their original drivers including John Watson, John Fitzpatrick, Richard Atwood and Mike Wilds.

On Saturday the 2nd of December we attended the inaugural Porter Press International Motoring Literary and Art Festival at the impressive Silverstone Wing. The event celebrated motoring books, magazines, art and automobilia and brought together many of the worlds top motoring writers, artists and publishers. For the Group C fans “The all conquering 956s and 962s” was a fascinating discussion about the golden era of Porsche endurance racing hosted by Mark Cole with John Watson, John Fitzpatrick, Serge Vanbockryck and Sean Roberts. It was extremely interesting to hear some of the first hand stories from the development and subsequent domination of these incredible cars.
